Weekly Photo Challenge: Shine

This week’s photo challenge is Shine. I just recently bought a new camera (Nikon D5500), so I had to mess around with the HDR settings. This is my first HDR photo. However, I also took some that were NOT HDR, so I just wanted to mess around a little bit.

I was driving back to my house this evening after running some errands, and saw the clouds in the sky and figured that the sunset tonight was going to be beautiful. I promptly dropped everything and raced up to the lake for some photo ops. Needless to say, I was super happy with the outcomes. Hope you all enjoy!!!

Posting anew

I am in the process of setting up an “official” website for my photos, so I am really trying to do better with posting more photos on here. Once the website is up and running, I will post that information as well, in case anyone is interested. It will include an online store where you can purchase my photos if you so desire.

That being said, my wife and I recently got back from a trip to the Philippines just before Christmas. While we were there, we spent a lot of time with my brother and his family, so they took us all over to take in the sights. This was a museum and plantation area called Villa Escudero. I hope you enjoy!

Long Time no post….

So, first of all, I want to apologize for the lengthy time between posts. Life happens, but I’m hoping to really get back into this now with the weather warming up and such.

As I was going through my photos, I was drawn back to our Yellowstone trip last summer. My brother and I both have the same cameras, so we started messing around with different lenses and different shutter speeds. We worked out (with many trials and errors) shutter speeds to make the water on the waterfalls blend together to look moving, while everything else stood still. This was one of the first I was did and was quite happy with it. Hope you all enjoy it too!!

Brooks Lake

On our way to Yellowstone, we decided to jump off the main road and take a jaunt through the Wyoming Countryside. I am so glad we did. We found Brooks Lake, and it was amazing. There was still snow on the ground (since it was June and we were in the mountains), the air was crisp and cool, and the water was pretty calm. With the mountains behind the lake, the scenery was absolutely amazing. I had to share this photo, and I hope you all enjoy!

Wildlife in Yellowstone

Yellowstone (for those of you who are not familiar) is absolutely full of wildlife. Mountain Goats, Bison, Elk, Bear, Wolves, Coyotes, and Eagles are just a few of the numerous species that one can see during a trip. While walking through Upper Geyser Basin (the area immediately surrounding the Old Faithful Inn), we saw our only Yellowstone Bluebird. The colors of the bird were amazing, especially in such an area. It lighted on this apparently dying conifer, and the contrast between the orange needles and the hue of the bird had me scrambling for my camera. I was just glad it stayed there long enough for me to get the picture. Hope you all enjoy!
