‘Fraidy Cat

My wife and I have cats. This is one of the two. His name is Pepe Le Pew. We named him that because (of course) he’s black and white. But he was also a stray, and was not used to “real” food, which had an adverse effect on his digestive system. I’ll leave that to your imagination. Thankfully, that did not last long; only long enough for us to come up with a great naming convention for him. Pepe is a ‘fraidy cat. At the slightest “non-expected” (which means pretty much any noise at all) he bolts for the safety of either our storage room in the basement, or makes a bee-line beneath the love seat in the living room. I caught him napping today on our bed, and managed to get very close to get this picture. He laid there very patiently. I was ever-so-quiet. He laid there through the focusing, not even moving. Just looking at me as though it was the most natural thing in the world. He lay there through the pre-flash, just squinting a tiny bit as the light came on. Then the shutter. And Pepe was gone. Up and vanished like a fart in the wind. But I love this picture. Hope you enjoy!
