A Study in Contrast

A few weeks ago I was out in Western Kansas on a trip. Just south of Quinter, Kansas, is a chalk formation called “Castle Rock”. All around it are these formations, which made for an interesting view with the clouds in the sky. I immediately thought of Black and White for this photo, because it really looked post-apocalyptic to me. The contrast was amazing, and with the clouds, it really has a sinister feel to it. Each shadow really stands out, giving great texture to the formations. Hope you all enjoy this photo!

  1. Yes, Daniel, it does look good in B&W with the clouds so dark above the formation of rocks. Really cool photograph!
