Weekly Photo Challenge: Unexpected

Just last month we went to Memphis, Tennessee for a weekend trip. It was a wonderful time, full of good food, Blues, and great family times. However, I was not expecting what I felt when we visited the Lorraine Hotel, the site of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. It amazes me that some people have so much hatred in their lives, not just for other people, but for other races, religious beliefs, and other “perceived” differences. I have a new insight into seeing others, and a new-found respect for other people, no matter where they come from, or what they think, feel, or believe. Needless to say, the impact Dr. King has on me, even today, is completely unexpected. Thank you for helping to continue to open eyes, Dr. King.

  1. It was a very reflective time and I am so happy we went there on our trip. Having lived through those troubled times, it is still hard to believe there was so much hatred then or that we would see a new wave of violence with the school shootings, etc. that are happening now. I would love to see peace in my lifetime for everyone.
