Weekly Photo Challenge – Abandoned

So this week’s challenge is “Abandoned”. This immediately made me think of a day I spent taking photos around Topeka, KS.

In Topeka, I found this abandoned building. It made for some interesting photo opportunities, but I decided on this one. While perusing around the abandoned building, I found this abandoned brick, surrounded by some glass that had apparently cushioned its fall as it was “abandoned” with some sort of force. Somebody evidently really did not want that brick anymore. Anyways, hope you enjoy.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unique

This door stood out against the hard brick wall. Somehow it seemed softer, more attractive, and very much older than the building around it. It was as though the door had been there forever; someone had just happened upon it and built a building around it. Strong, weathered, and original. Unique.

Kansas is known as the Wheat State for a reason: We produce a LOT of wheat. And Corn. And other grains that are used world-wide. Therefore, we have a lot of large grain elevators, which keep the grains clean and safe until they are needed. This is one of the grain elevators in Topeka, Kansas. The clouds made for a nice backdrop against the sky, while the sun was setting. I thought the coloring was spectacular, and made for some interesting contrasts. I hope you enjoy!
