Wrought Iron Fence Post

I’m a big fan of details. Sure, the overall is beautiful too, but everybody sees that. Not everyone sees the details that go into making the whole. I find the details amazing, the textures, the way the surface changes over time. This wrought iron fence post stood out to me. Painted black, it stood out against the background begging me to come closer and look. The texture of the paint on the surface, the lines where it had flecked off some years ago and been touched up, the bolts holding it together. Everything screamed at me to look closely. Standing back, the fence was there and rather intricate, but overall just a fence. Up close, it’s almost like being on another planet.

Reflections on University…

So, my wife and I went to our Alma Mater (Washburn University), and took some pictures of the many statues and art works they have outside on the campus. Just outside of the Mulvane Art Museum is a mirrored object (some sort of spiral design). I have always enjoyed how reflections can distort images sometimes, and therefore present a new perspective on what one sees in the reflection. I hope this is also something you can enjoy!
